Harry Potter’s Emma Watson never needs to work again
The 17-year-old actress, said to have amassed a $23.4 million fortune, has admitted she need never work again.
“Let’s be honest, I have enough money never to have to work again,” she told a US magazine.
“But I would never want that.”
Watson can be seen in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix , the fifth film in the series which opens in cinemas today.
The film, which will screen 155 times a day in Adelaide, is expected to equal or surpass Goblet of Fires’ $35.7 million box office haul in Australia.
Watson has already agreed to make a further two Harry Potter movies.
When not filming, she remains committed to her studies.
“People can’t understand why I don’t want to be a full-time actress but school life keeps me in touch with my friends,” she said.
“It keeps me in touch with reality.
“I have a really secure network of family and friends.
“My parents are lawyers and they have no interest in being part of this industry.”
Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, is a little ahead of Watson in the bank balance stakes.
He has just signed a $58 million deal to appear in the next two films. At last week’s London premiere, he declared that he was looking for a girlfriend.
Watson, however, is not in the running in the movies at least.
Her character appears to be developing the first hints of a romance with Harry’s friend Ron Weasley.
