Stars behaving Badly

Jordan

Not best known for mincing her words, Jordan has used 2007 to get a whole load of things off her giant chest. While presenting her TV chat show with hubby Peter Andre recently, Jordan zeroed in on Heather Mills and made inappropriate jokes about her disability. Come on, Jordan – money-grabber jokes might be acceptable but disabled jokes definitely aren’t! Jordan also seems to relish the opportunity to talk about Victoria Beckham’s “fake” boobs whenever she has a chance, despite Posh never admitting she’s had a boob job. Talking of Victoria Beckham…

Victoria Beckham

After Victoria’s reality TV show aired in early 2007, Star Magazine claimed a crew member on the show found her “picky, demanding and rude”. After Posh got a whiff of the story, she got in a huff and called her lawyer, claiming it was total nonsense as the story was published before filming had even commenced. The magazine apologised, retracted the story and Victoria was awarded damages. The moral? Don’t mess with the Beckhams! And talking of insults in newspapers…

Lily Allen

Lily Allen has had such a busy time slagging people off in 2007 that it’s surprising she’s had time to do anything else! The feisty singer had a scrap with a female photographer outside a London club back in March, and has used the press as a platform to criticise everyone from Bob Geldof to Paris Hilton. But perhaps her biggest and ugliest spat is with Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole. “I hate her guts,” she said of Cheryl. “She’s a horrible, nasty, disgusting human being!” Lily also slagged off Cheryl’s bandmates and husband. But Cheryl isn’t just the innocent victim…

Cheryl Cole

The Lily v Cheryl spat certainly hasn’t been a one-way street. Cheryl has given as good as she’s got in the public slagging match: “Lily is a chick with a d***!” blasted Mrs Cole, later adding: “I have had enough of her and her big mouth. Over the last few months she has called Nicola ‘ugly’, Sarah ‘vile’ and my husband ‘horrendous’.” Crikey. And let’s not forget that Cheryl was found guilty of assault back in 2003 after a fight with a nightclub toilet attendant. But Lily Allen wasn’t the only star to give Girls Aloud a slagging…

Charlotte Church

She may have mellowed since becoming a mum, but the once-angelic Charlotte Church has a very sharp tongue, and she’s not afraid to use it to dish out some feisty lashings. Among those on the receiving end are Girls Aloud (especially Cheryl!), who she has accused of not being able to sing. Charlotte has also laid into X Factor, saying the judges make stupid comments because they don’t know anything about singing. She’s also used her Channel 4 show to dish out insults aplenty. Yes, Channel 4 has its fair share of rude celebs…

Jade Goody

Jade has spent most of 2007 hanging her head in shame after probably the worst example of on-air bullying in history. Jade was shown in her worst light on Celebrity Big Brother, where the out-of-control ‘star’ ended up roaring nasty, and at times racist, insults at Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. TV regulator Ofcom received more than 44,500 complaints from the public and Jade’s popularity plummeted. What’s the moral of the story? Don’t be a bigot!
Who gets your vote as the rudest celebrity? Have your say on the boards

Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell isn’t just rude now and then; it’s his job. Shattering the pop star dreams of thousands of hopefuls on both sides of the Atlantic has made Simon incredibly famous and incredibly rich. Week in week out, Cowell finds new ways to tell singers that they’re crap. And in fairness, quite often they are! But he tends to go for the jugular with comments such as: “I want to be sick! You’ve got the worst voice I’ve ever heard! You’re a disgrace! Why didn’t your family tell you that you were rubbish?” And that’s why he’s the most famous baddy in the world. Talking of being rude and rich…

Mel Gibson

These days, Mel Gibson is more famous for being rude and wasted than for starring in blockbusters. He still lives with the shame of his 2006 drink driving arrest when he allegedly spat racist insults at a Jewish police officer, and most of Mel’s column inches in recent years have been due to his drinking or controversial views on politics and religion. But does Mel apologise for his outspoken ways? Nope! He’s quoted as saying: “I am politically incorrect, that’s true. Political correctness to me is just intellectual terrorism… I won’t be intimidated into changing my mind. Everyone isn’t going to love you all the time.”

Kanye West

Another star who won’t be silenced is Kanye West. It has been obvious for a while now that Kanye fancies himself, but not until the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards did we realise just how enormous his ego really is. After losing out in the Best Video category to Simian, Kanye lost it – he stormed the stage, grabbed the microphone and claimed it was a disgrace that his Touch The Sky video didn’t win: “I had Pamela Anderson in my video and cars jumping over canyons and s***! Hell no!” Dear oh dear. Did Kanye apologise for his outburst? Hell no!

Hugh Grant

Another celebrity who hasn’t learnt from past mistakes is Hugh Grant. He has a bitter hatred of tabloid press and paparazzi, perhaps due to the lambasting he received after he was caught getting busy with a prostitute in a car in LA back in 1995. That stupidity doesn’t seem to have gone away – in April 2007, Hugh was arrested for assault after paparazzo Ian Whittaker accused the actor of throwing baked beans at him! The charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence, but the photos that surfaced of Grant clumsily trying to kick the snapper gave everyone a good laugh. Talking of famous men that don’t like people taking photos of them…

Prince

Prince detests having his picture taken, so much so that he banned cameras from being taken into his string of shows at London’s 02 Arena. And, so legend has it, paranoid Prince doesn’t even like people looking him in the eye! When he appeared on Top Of The Pops a few years back, BBC staff were ordered to face the wall as the purple pop star walked past – a bizarre ritual that is replayed across the world whenever Prince makes personal appearances. We might be able to forgive Prince’s eccentricities but all you other celebrities – mind your manners!
